Pineto

Pineto is a municipality of 14,676 inhabitants in the province of Teramo.

Pineto located in the Italian region of Abruzzo. The neighboring municipalities are Atri, Roseto degli Abruzzi and Silvi.

Pineto (Italian pine forest ), is named after the Pinenhain that runs on the 2 km long sandy beach. On the beach is the Torre di Cerrano (Tower of Cerrano ), which was built in the Byzantine period as a defense tower against Turkish pirates, but is now used as a laboratory for studies of the ocean.

The Pinetesi (population ) live since the thirties of the last century in Pineto, before most citizens from Mutignano, which is a fraction of Pineto arrived today. The patron saint of the village is Saint Agnes and the local holiday will take place on January 21.
