Constanţa Burcică

Constanta Burcică ( born March 15, 1971 in Sohatu, district Calarasi as Pipotă Constanţa ) is a former Romanian rower. She is three -time Olympic lightweight double sculls, overall they could in their careers five Olympic medals and five world title win. This makes it one of the most successful rowers of all time.

Burcică, which belonged to the sports club Dinamo Bucharest, began at the age of 14 years with the rowing. At the University of George Bacovia Bacau she studied sports. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, she won the silver medal in the quadruple sculls. She tried to establish themselves in one, but was not at the 1995 World Championships in Tampere on the eleventh square.

She then moved to the first Olympic lightweight double sculls and was in Atlanta in 1996, together with Camelia Macoviciuc Olympic champion. In the same year she was also world champion in the lightweight single sculls. In 1999, she won in St. Catharines with Macoviciuc in the double sculls at the world championships. With the new rowing partner Angela Alupei she could repeat the 2000 Olympic gold medal in Sydney.

Together with Camelia Mihalcea she was at the 2003 World Championships in Milan third parties. Athens 2004 she won the Olympic race for the third time in a row, this time again with Angela Alupei.
