Dietwiller

Dietwiller ( German Dietweiler ) is a commune with 1401 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Mulhouse, on the Canton Sierentz and community association Mulhouse Alsace AgglomÃ.

Geography

The municipality is bordered to the north by Eschentzwiller, to the east by Niffer with the Forêt de la Hardt domaniale Sud, on the south by Schlierbach and to the west by Landser.

History

1245, the village was first mentioned as Dethwilr. Dietwiller belonged to the Bailiwick of soldiers.

Culture and sights

Stone houses with vaulted cellar entrances and half-timbered houses dot the village.

The St. Nicholas Church was built in 1881. In the back of the ship there are statues of St. Wendelin and the Virgin Mary with child. The organ of Rinckenbach dates from the year 1891.
