Peter Hoeltzenbein

Peter Hoeltzenbein ( born April 7, 1971 in Münster ) is a retired German rower who won an Olympic silver medal in 1992 in the coxless pairs.

Career and Achievements

He was, in 1991 and 1992 awarded by the Sports Federation of Münster at Sports Ball 1989 Sportsman of the Year.

1991 Hoeltzenbein, together with Colin von Ettingshausen third in the German Championship. The World Rowing Championships 1991, the two reached the finals and occupied the sixth place. The following year, the two a strong Saioneinstieg succeeded by winning the German championship with a time of 6:23 minutes. Thus, the two traveled as co-favorites to the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. There, the British Steven Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent won gold in 6:27 minutes. Hoeltzenbein and Ettingshausen were in 6:32 minutes before the Second Slovenia Iztok Čop and Denis Zvegelj.

In 1995, Peter Hoeltzenbein for a year at the University of Cambridge and won with eight of Cambridge in the Boat Race. Then the lawyer ended his rowing career.
