Schœnau

Schœnau ( German Schoenau ) is a commune with 588 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the district Sélestat - Erstein, for Canton Marckolsheim and is a member of the Association of Communes de Ried Marckolsheim.

Geography

The community Schœnau situated on the Rhine, which forms the border with Germany here. At the height Schœnau the Rhine is cordoned off and out the water over a section of the Rhine side channel ( loop ) for the barrage Diebolsheim.

Neighboring communities are of Rheinhausen (Baden- Württemberg) in the Northeast, Weis Weil ( Baden- Württemberg) in the southeast, Artolsheim the southwest, Richtolsheim in the west and Saasenheim and Sundhouse in the northwest.
