World Cup (Snooker)

The Snooker World Cup ( also World Team Classic and Nations Cup called; partially preceded by sponsors ) was a professional snooker tournament of the main tour.

History

Was established the tournament in 1979, it initially took place in Birmingham. The first World Cup won by the team from Wales. Then the tournament for a year to the New London Theatre moved to before World Team Classic took place from 1981-1983 under the name of Reading. Then was Bournemouth venue for the next six editions. After the 1989/90 season the tournament for several years disappeared from the calendar. 1996/97 there was a new edition in Thailand. After a year break, it was again reactivated for three years under the new name Nations Cup in England, which existed in the first two years, the team of four ( previously three) players.

After a break of eleven years, the tournament 2011/12 was re- incorporated as PTT - EGAT Snooker World Cup in the Main Tour.

In 2000, the Scotsman John Higgins scored in the match against Dennis Taylor the only maximum break the tournament's history.
