1997–98 French Division 1

The Division 1 1997/98 was the 60th season of the French Division 1 began the season on 1 August 1997. Promoted as LB Châteauroux and FC Toulouse came from the Ligue 2 this. The season as champion finished the RC Lens and thus became the successor to the AS Monaco. Qualifying for the UEFA Champions League managed Lens and FC Metz ( qualification). For the UEFA Cup, the AS Monaco, Olympique Marseille and Olympique Lyon and Girondins Bordeaux and Paris SG qualified on the two cup competitions. In the UEFA Intertoto Cup the following year played AJ Auxerre, SC Bastia and AC Le Havre. Relegated to the Ligue 2 Guingamp had, LB Châteauroux and AS Cannes.
