Althornbach

Althornbach is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Zweibrücken -Land.

Geography

Althornbach lies in the Palatinate region, on the edge of Zweibrücker hill country in Hornbachtal. To Althornbach includes the hamlet Bödingerhof and residential places Buchholzbergerhof and Hübelhof.

Neighboring municipalities are - clockwise - Two bridges, Contwig, Mauschbach, Hornbach and Blieskastel.

History

Althornbach was first mentioned in 1272 as a veterinary Horbaco documented, the Bödingerhof 1331 as Bedingheim. The places followed in their territorial affiliation always Zweibrücken. Bödingen declined in the 16th century to a courtyard down, then lay desolate to 1670 and was later repopulated.
