Erlenbach bei Dahn

Erlenbach bei Dahn is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Dahn, which has its headquarters in the town of Dahn. Erlenbach bei Dahn is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

Erlenbach is located in the German part of the Wasgau, which belongs to the southern part of the Palatinate Forest and forms a part of the Palatinate region. 87.6 percent of the district area is forested.

To Erlenbach also the district Lauter Swan and residential places Berwartstein heard (Castle and restaurant ) and Seehof.

Neighboring municipalities are - clockwise - Vorderweidenthal, Birkenhördt, Böllenborn, Bobenthal, Niederschlettenbach, Bundenthal, Bruchweiler Bear creek and Busenberg.

History

Culture and sights

In the Erlenbach Berwartstein, the only still inhabited castle is in Wasgau. Probably built around 1000, it was first mentioned in 1152, when it was made by the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, the then Bishop of Speyer Günther von Henneberg to the present. After several destructions and reconstructions it was restored in its present form in 1900.
