Bobenthal

Bobenthal is a municipality in the southwest, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Dahn, which has its headquarters in the town of Dahn. Bobenthal is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geographical location

Bobenthal located directly on the German - French border, as southeastern municipality of the district of Southwest Palatinate region, surrounded by the Palatinate forest, and thus also in the middle of cross-border biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest - Vosges du Nord. History

The oldest known mention Bobenthals dates from the year 1316.

End of the 15th century knight Hans von Trotha accumulated in the course of his feud with the abbot of the monastery of Wissembourg the Wieslauter at Bobenthal and later had to tear down the dam again. This initially led to water shortages and in connection to a strong flood at White Castle.

The Catholic Church of St. Michael was built in the 19th century in the Romanesque Revival style. .
