Vorderweidenthal

Vorderweidenthal is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Bergzabern. The 12- km north- westernmost counterpart Hinterweidenthal belongs to the municipality in the district of West Hauenstein Pfalz. The local church also Palatinate Weidenthal is about 20 km north.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Palatinate Forest between the biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest and the Rhine.

To Vorderweidenthal includes the residential places Bethof, Lindelbrunn and Sagmuhle.

History

The first written mention of the village dates from the year 1313.

Religion

In 2007, 64.3 percent of the population Protestant and 22.8 percent Catholic. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.

The local council in Vorderweidenthal consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: "Divided and split up, top right six times shared by green and silver, top left in blue rotbewehrter a silver eagle, silver down in a growing green willow tree ."

It was established in 1962 approved by the Mainz Ministry of Interior. The eagle recalls the former belonging to the Leiningern.

Structures

The Lindelbrunn is a ruined castle at Vorderweidenthal between Bad Bergzabern and Landau in the Palatinate. It is situated at 440 meters above sea level.
