Insheim

Insheim ( pfälz. Isem ) is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Herxheim.

Geography

Insheim is located in the southern Palatinate. Neighboring municipalities are - clockwise - Landau in der Pfalz, Herxheim bei Landau / Pfalz, Erlenbach bei Kandel, Steinweiler, Rohrbach (Pfalz ) and vaccinees.

History

During excavation work for a construction road construction area in the upper tree gardens came on 24 April 2012, two human skeletons revealed. During the visit of the site a total of ten graves were found. Since this is, according to the bone structure should act very old bones, the Directorate General Cultural Heritage, Speyer was taught the excavation director in charge found on the scene that just had been discovered at an early medieval burial ground dating from the 7th century. Previously had excavations that were carried out between 2000 and 2002, confirmed a settlement in the district Insheim prior to the first documentary mention.

This was in the year 782 by an arable donation to the monastery of Lorsch. There is Ansilheim of the speech, which means " settlement". One of the oldest fortified houses was the tenth house (currently in private ownership). Later in the 13th century it was owned by the monastery Klingenmünster.

Coat of arms

The importance of Insheim coat of arms is unknown. One possible interpretation by historians is not the symbolization of a star, but a wagon wheel. This symbolizes in heraldry trade, which was pronounced in Insheim the great location.

Structures

  • Zeppelin Zeppelin square with fountain - The square was built in 2000. Before that was previously undeveloped land as storage space. Today is the Zeppelinplatz hard place for the events in the village, such as the Christmas market. The course was also accepted by the population as a communication point.
  • Rathaus - The Town Hall was Insheim 2003 - renovated in 2005 and now houses next to the council chamber and mayor's office also has a multi- room that can be booked up to 30 people for companies. Also, the attic and the landmarked loft with the Insheim bell was repaired.
  • Churches - The lavish churches are located in the town center. The cemetery with graves dating back to the early 19th century is located in the evangelical church. On the grounds of the Catholic church is the approximately 50 people comprehensive community home.

Natural Monuments

  • Insheim Forest - The Insheim forest, consisting of 80 hectares of mixed woodland, and 2000 was the setting for the annual Maifests, then still organized by the local club Palatinate Forest. Since the completion of the Zeppelin course this is done there under the direction of the Cultural Association.
  • Fish pond - the fish pond, the " On Rotengraben " is located in the somewhat remote parcel, consists, besides the actual fish pond, so a smaller lake, even from the same adjacent forest.

Events

The Cultural Association supports several activities:

Economy and infrastructure

Economy

The Insheim economy is characterized mainly by the large number of wineries, but also by industry.

Since June 2008, ran for drilling a geothermal project in Insheim. The power plant was originally intended to go into operation in 2011. After the district administration Southern Wine Road had granted approval for the construction of a geothermal power plant in early 2012, this was completed in September 2011 to October 2012. After further preparatory measures, the plant was put into operation on November 13, 2012 and will provide 4.8 megawatts.

In Insheim there are two surgeries, one general practitioner and one for dentistry. There is also a pharmacy.

Traffic

The community is connected by a bus service to Herxheim and a train station that connects the village with the main railway stations in Landau in der Pfalz, Neustadt on the Wine Route and Karlsruhe to the passenger.

Others

  • The local nickname " Isemer Stecher " comes from the period before the First World War, when the rivalry between the communities to each other was tall and almost every place had such a nickname. Some have the time to date "survived".
