Gommersheim

Gommersheim is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Edenkoben.

Geography

The village is 9 km east of Edenkoben between the biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest and the Rhine.

To Gommersheim includes the living space Kindelsbrunnerhof.

History

Gommersheim probably originated in the 6th century and was first mentioned in the late 8th century in documents. In the Middle Ages Gommersheim was an empire village. As of 1717, the village belonged to the county Degenfeldstrasse Schomburg.
