Barbelroth

Barbelroth is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Bergzabern.

Geography

The rural residential community located 5 km east of Bad Bergzabern towards Karlsruhe between the biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest and the Rhine. The main activities are the wine and tobacco.

To Barbelroth includes the living space Neumühlestrasse.

History

Barbelroth was first mentioned on April 6, 1179 as the property of the monastery White Castle documented. An old form of the place name is Berwardsroth.

By the end of the 18th century Barbelroth belonged to the upper office Zweibrücken in the Duchy of Pfalz- Zweibrücken.

Religion

On 31 December 2012, 56.3 percent of the population Protestant and 27.1 percent were Catholic. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.
