Schweighofen

Schweighofen ( pfälz. Schwäächhoffe ) is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Bergzabern.

Geography

The community is located between the biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest and the Rhine on the border with France. Neighboring municipalities are - clockwise - Oberotterbach, Kapsweyer, White Castle and silence law stream.

To Schweighofen includes the residential places Haftelhof, Neuhof and Windhof.

History

Schweighofen is on the Mundat area, which Pepin the 760 presented the monastery with White Castle. As a result, the monastery founded on cleared areas, many farms and hamlets, which included Schweighofen. Mentioned for the place first opened in 1311. Many centuries it belonged and the Old City, which is a hamlet of White Castle today, together.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " In red with a slight right laying golden key with top abwärtsgekehrtem beard and diamond-shaped handle, below an abutting silver pewter wall with open rundbogigem Gate, is a golden horseshoe with down swept Stollen".

It was established in 1950 approved by the Mainz Ministry of Interior. The St. Peter's key recalls the monastery White Castle.

Economy and infrastructure

The community is connected via the national road 546 to the road network. A train stops at the track winds - White Castle (Alsace ) ensured with the bus Bad Bergzabern - Schweighofen public transport.

South of the town lies the small airfield Schweighofen.
