Rohrbach is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Herxheim.

Geography

Rohrbach is located in the conservation area " Klingbachtal - Kaiserbachtal " in the southern Palatinate between Landau in der Pfalz ( 8 km away ) and Karlsruhe (approx. 30 km ).

Rohrbach also includes the living space Lettenhof.

Neighboring municipalities are (clockwise): Insheim, Herxheim bei Landau / Pfalz, Steinweiler, low -Ingenheim and vaccinees.

History

The place is documented since 693.

By the end of the 18th century it belonged to the Palatine office cheap home, which was subordinate to the chief official of Germersheim.

In Rohrbach a battle of the French Revolution War took place on 29 June 1793. The Austrian troops under Field Marshal Dagobert Sigmund von Wurmser beat it back the French army and thus foiled the relief of Mainz.

Coat of arms

The National Archives Speyer (Mr Debus ) describes the Rohrbacher coat of arms in 1977 as follows:

Rohrbach had until 1977 is no approved municipal coat of arms, but probably an old court seal from 1698, which showed the spell mark in oval shield.   • Wine Festival

The on the second weekend in June annual Rohrbacher wine festival is known far beyond the town limits and is considered one of the most popular festivals of its kind

  • Wurscht Zippel Kerwe

On the first weekend in October, the traditional Wurscht Zippel church fete takes place on the square in front of the village hall. Since 2010, the church fete is accompanied by a farmers and artists market, which takes place on Sunday.
