Pleisweiler-Oberhofen

Pleisweiler -Oberhofen is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Bergzabern.

Geography

The state certified spa and wine-growing town situated between the Palatinate Forest Biosphere Reserve and the Rhine on the German Wine Route.

To Pleisweiler -Oberhofen includes the living spaces house oak leaves and Wappenschmiede.

History

When construction of the bypass remains of a Roman settlement have been found ( stone-walled cellar with shards of the types of goods terra sigillata and Terra Nigra ). After the battle of Zuelpich the area was settled by the Franks. Probably Blidineswilare was one of the oldest settlements in the region. Oberhofen was first mentioned in the 9th century as the estate of the monastery Klingenmünster. 1828 villages and Pleisweiler Oberhofen were combined to form a community.

Religion

In 2007, 45.3 percent of the population Protestant and 40.4 percent Catholic. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " Sable, a golden angel with golden wings, golden halo and red shoulder straps, red cross and red headband lance, so that a supine rotbezungten green dragon killing ."

It was approved in 1982 by the district government Neustadt and goes back to a seal from 1521. Archangel Michael was the patron of the monastery Klingenmünster, belonged to the Pleisweiler.

Traffic

Pleisweiler -Oberhofen is connected via bus 540, which runs from Bad Bergzabern to Landau to the public transport network. Nearest train stop is the train station in Bad Bergzabern.
