Gleiszellen-Gleishorbach

Gleiszellen- Horbach is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Bergzabern. She is a nationally recognized tourist destination

Geography

The municipality is located in the Wine Road on the eastern edge of the Wasgau, which is formed by the southern part of the Palatinate Forest and the northern part of the Vosges.

The municipality also includes the living space Villa Bender.

Striking projections on boundaries of the municipality are the Röhlberg ( 448 m), the top mountain ( 413 m) nd the stone head ( 388 m). Neighboring municipalities are - clockwise - Klingenmünster, Heuchelheim blades, Pleisweiler -Oberhofen, Bad Bergzabern and Silz.

History

The place name track cells suggests a connection with the monastery Blidenfels.

Religion

In 2007, 46.7 percent of the population Protestant and 37.4 percent Catholic. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " divided by red and silver, the top between two six-pointed silver stars on both an S and a G is forming golden characters below three blue flowers with golden slugs on a green stem ."

Economy

The town is a stronghold of the Muskatelleranbaus in Germany. Approximately 12 acres of Muscat, representing about 7% of the area under German muscatel vineyards, focus on the principles of community. For this reason, a corresponding muscatel loop trail was established in 2007, which at the Dionysius of Paris consecrated Catholic Church begins south of the village. Many visitors from the Palatinate and Baden environment are attracted by the catering track Zellens and especially by the traditional wine festivals in the " Winzergasse " and hence the place is also a tourist stronghold in the southern Palatinate region.
