Freimersheim, Südliche Weinstraße

Freimersheim (Pfalz ) is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Edenkoben.

Geography

The municipality is located eight kilometers south-east of Edenkoben. To Freimersheim includes the residential places Freimersheimermühle, Kaltenbacherhof and Salmhof.

History

Freimersheim 771 was first mentioned in a deed of the monastery Lorsch. In 1423 the place was rich own until then was transferred to the Junker Hans Weingarten. 1685 dies, the family of the vineyard from the last rung is buried in the church Freimersheimer in the choir, and the good of the family is sold to the cathedral chapter of Speyer.

During the Nine Years' War Freimersheim was completely destroyed and abandoned by its inhabitants temporarily. The Peace of Luneville in 1801, the village became part of the French Republic. Freimersheim became part of the French department of Thunder Mountain and Mairie Böbingen was assigned in Canton Edenkoben. As a result of the Congress of Vienna ( 1815) Freimersheim first came to Austria and 1816 because of a contract on the exchange to the Kingdom of Bavaria. As of 1818, the municipality Freimersheim was later assigned to the country 's Commissariat Landau in Bavaria Rheinkreis the county Landau, from 1938, the district Landau emerged. After two world wars, the village was French occupation zone. Since 1978, the community belongs to the district of Southern Wine Route.
