Roschbach

Roschbach is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Edenkoben.

Geography

The wine-growing village located 6 km south of Edenkoben between the biosphere reserve Palatinate Forest and the Rhine.

Neighboring municipalities are - clockwise - Edesheim, Knöringen, Walsheim, Flemlingen and grove box.

History

For the first time the city was mentioned in 769 in a deed of the Frankish nobles Marzolf to the Lorsch Abbey.

Religion

2013 were 68.4 percent of the population Catholic, 15.3 percent Protestant. The other belonged to a different religion or no religious affiliation were.

Coat of arms

The blazon of the arms is: " Sable, a golden district mark in the form of a stylized with the studs down swept horseshoe from which a cross grows downward such that the district character takes the form of an inverted anchor ".

It was approved in 1922 by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior and goes back to a seal of 1771st The colors black and gold are reminiscent of the former belonging to the Palatinate.
