The Oblast Astrakhan (Russian Астраханская область / Astrachanskaja oblast ) is an oblast in the Russian region of southern Russia.

The oblast is situated in the Caspian basin and occupies a narrow strip along the lower reaches of the Volga. It borders the Caspian Sea and lies between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Kalmykia. Despite its proximity to the Caspian Sea, the climate is strictly continental with low precipitation.
