Bruce Braley

Bruce Braley ( born October 30, 1957 in Grinnell, Poweshiek County, Iowa) is an American politician. Since 2007 he represents the state of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives, and has announced that it intends to make in 2014 as a U.S. Senator to vote.

Career

Bruce Braley attended after high school until 1980, the Iowa State University and thereafter until 1983, the University of Iowa, where he studied law. Then he started in Waterloo (Iowa) to work as a lawyer. He specialized in lawsuits with respect to accidents at work and controversial layoffs. Braley was also chairman of the Bar Association of Iowa ( Trial Lawyers Association).

Politically, Braley joined the Democratic Party. In 2006, he was the first electoral district of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Republican Jim Nussle on 3 January 2007 and was re-elected three times, most recently in 2012, so he exercises his mandate until today. Braley is a member of the Committee for Trade and Energy, and in three of its subcommittees. In the 2008 presidential election he initially supported John Edwards and Barack Obama after its withdrawal. Braley announced in February 2013, to want to apply for the Senate seat in 2014 after the announced withdrawal of the incumbent Tom Harkin is free.

Bruce Braley has three children with his wife Carolyn. The family lives privately in Waterloo.
