Smith McPherson

Smith McPherson ( born February 14, 1848 Mooresville, Indiana; † January 17, 1915 in Red Oak, Iowa) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1899 and 1900 he represented the state of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Smith McPherson attended the public schools of his home including Mooresville Academy. After a subsequent law studies at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and its made ​​in 1870 admitted to the bar, he began practicing in his new profession in Red Oak. In 1872 he became a prosecutor. From 1881 to 1885 McPherson held the office of the Attorney General of his state. He then worked again as a lawyer.

Politically, McPherson member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1898 he was in the ninth constituency of Iowa in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected.
