Ellingstedt

Ellingstedt (Danish: Ellingsted ) is a municipality in the district of Schleswig -Flensburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. Ellingstedt consists of the districts Bockhöft, Morgenstern, Ellingstedt North and Schellund.

Between 1958 and 1977 the church was twelve times in the competition "Our village is beautiful " excellent.

Geography and transport

Ellingstedt located 13 km south-west of Schleswig on the edge of Treenemarsch. North of the village the main road runs 201 of Kappeln to Husum.

History

The village lies on Margaret Wall, part of the Danevirke and was first mentioned in 934. Until 31 December 2007, it belonged to the defunct Office Silberstedt.

Policy

Of the eleven seats in the municipal council has the voter community AWGE since the municipal election 2013, all eleven seats.

Coat of arms

Blazon: " Shared by gold and blue. Above, a green alder leaf between a green fruit stand on the right and a green inflorescence left, below a border of silver duck with golden beak and red feet. "

The figures of the municipality coat of arms, alder and duck, both refer to the name of the community. The choice of figure for the upper half of the coat of arms is based on Low German form of the name Alder ( Eller, Ellerboom ), the lower will the 1852 proposed by Pastor J. R. F. Augustiny from Hollingstedt in his chronicle of the parish Hollingstedt derivation of the place name of " Elling " or " Alling " in the Danish term for small duck. Wild ducks were at the municipality contacting Rheider Au as breeding birds very common, according to the news of the chroniclers. The alder is still typical for the community tree, which is commonly found not only in the lowland area of Rheider Au, but has recently found largely as articulated planting use.

Economy

The municipal area is predominantly agricultural.

Clubs

In addition to a volunteer fire department and the sports club there in Ellingstedt a shooting club, a women's choir and a theater group. The German Red Cross (DRK ) is also an active member in place.
