Schnarup-Thumby

Schnarup - Thumby (Danish: Snarup - Tumby ) is a municipality in the district of Schleswig -Flensburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. It was formed on 28 February 1970, through the merger of the municipalities Schnarup and Thumby. Eslingholz, Klaholz ( Klåholt ) Köhnholz ( Kønholt ) Lüttholm, Schnarup ( Snarup ) Thumby ( Tumby ) Thumby -West, Thumbyfeld ( Tumbymark ) and Thumbyhassel ( Hessel ) are located in the municipal area.

Geography and transport

Schnarup - Thumby located in the geographic center of the landscape fishing, about 17 km northeast of Schleswig, and 17 km to the west of Kappeln in a rural environment. To the west runs the Federal Highway 7 from Schleswig to Flensburg, south of State Road 201 Kappeln to Husum and north of State Road 199 from Kappeln to Flensburg.

Policy

Municipal council

Of the nine seats in the municipal council voters Community AWG had since the municipal election 2008, five seats and the voter community FWG four. In the local elections on May 26, 2013, the AWG received six seats and the FWG three seats.

Mayor

For the election period 2013-2018 Andreas Bonde ( AWG), succeeding Mr. Thomsen was elected mayor.

Attractions

In the list of cultural monuments in Schnarup - Thumby inscribed in the memorial book of the State of Schleswig- Holstein cultural monuments are of particular importance.

The oldest structure in the village is the small Romanesque church in Thumby, which still retains its free-standing wooden belfry.
