Gelenberg is a municipality in the volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kelberg.

Geography
The place is located in the Eifel.
History
1563 included the town under the name Geillenberg four, six fireplaces 1684. Gorgeous country they belonged to the late 18th century to the Electorate of Trier and was under as part of the Zents Bongard in court Kelberg the office administration down. 1787 saw Gelenberg 93 inhabitants. In connection with the municipal reorganization of Rhineland -Palatinate and the formation of collective municipality Kelberg the community Gelenberg came on November 7, 1970 by the same resolution Mayen down to the district (now county Volcanic Eifel ).

Religion
The citizens of Gelenberg are about 90% Roman Catholic. The village chapel is dedicated to St. Wendelin. Gelenberg belongs to cath. Parish bottom stream. The Heyer mountain chapel with its Stations of the Cross in the woods is visited by Gelenbergern like.

The local council in Gelenberg consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms description reads: "In green over a golden mountain, in a blue box, a left -turned golden shepherd shovel".
The coat of arms consists of two parts. The lower part shows a golden mountain and is a blue urn, symbolizing the Tumulus Culture found in this district. The upper part contains a golden shepherd shovel, the sign of the local saint Wendelinus, on a green background, a symbol of the centuries-old agricultural character of the place.

Natural Monuments
In Gelenberg is a Kaiserlinde with memorial stone with the years 1813/1913. This stone commemorates the centennial anniversary of the victory over Napoleon in the Battle of Leipzig and is also found in many other towns in the central Eifel.
