Havetoft

Havetoft is a municipality in the district of Schleswig -Flensburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. Bunsbüllstraße, Havetoft, Havetoftfeld, Holming, Holmingfeld, Hostrup, Hostrupfeld, Hostrupholz (Danish: Hostrupskov ) Kroxbüll ( Krogsbøl ) Neuheim, Neuhof ( Nygård ), Osterhavetoft and Süderhavetoft lie in the municipality.

Geography

It lies at the Havetofter lake where water mill stands.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1302. The place name means settlement with small fenced plots of land.

St. Mary's Church, built of granite blocks and boulders was built in the 12th century. The separate wooden bell stack was built in 1763.

Incorporations

On 1 February 1974, the municipality Hostrup was incorporated.

Policy

Of the eleven seats in the municipal council has the Wählergemeinschaft nuclear plant since the local elections in 2013 six seats, the SSW has three and the CDU two seats.

The municipality consists of the villages Havetoft Havetoft and Hostrup. They were up in the 1950s pure peasant villages where mainly the horse was used as a draft animal on the farm. The name of the hamlet Hostrup (host = hors = horse) also refers to the horse, so that a horse's head was chosen for the coat of arms. The rear gate, intake on a fenced field, stands for the name part of the district Havetoft ( Have = containment ). The wave bar is reminiscent of the Bollingstedter Au, which separates the districts.

The municipal area is predominantly agricultural, but there are also pure residential areas.

The congregation Havetoft includes not only the political community Havetoft the communities Klappholz and Havetoftloit and has around 1,800 members of the community.

Elisabethenheim

The Elizabeth Home, founded by Pastor John Witt as an orphanage in 1888 is a special education child and youth welfare institution that serves about 60 children. It was named after the 1885 deceased daughter Elizabeth Witt, who campaigned very much for orphans of the region.
