Leezen

Leezen is a municipality in the district of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein. The municipality, which is a rural administrative center, including the districts Heiderfeld and Krems I.

History

Leezen is first documented in the Bull of Pope Innocent III. from October 10, 1199 in the form of a " ECCLESIA IN LATZINGHE " ( Church in Leezen ) mentioned. In the Deed of Segeberger Church on 17 March 1137 by Emperor Lothar III. , Duke of Saxony is not mentioned Leezen unlike Högersdorf, Schwissel and Mözen as the Church dutiable villages. Also in the document confirming the bishop Vicelins of 25 September 1150 which mentions other villages such as Wahlstedt Leezen is not mentioned. The village Leezen was thus probably during the clearing of forests 1150-1199.

In the Thirty Years' War from 1618 to 1648 the Swedes Leezen and Heiderfeld burned down during the incident in the Danish Holstein. The empty farms were later redistributed and built the village.

Dating back to the 12th century stone church was demolished in 1870 except for the wooden bell tower and replaced by a new building.
