List of Greek words with English derivatives

Greek word roots are found predominantly in German in technical terms that are either directly taken from the Greek or growths are. Were of a limited number of word stems and numerous scientific concepts and other foreign words in the Indo-European languages ​​derived. They are helpful to the understanding of everyday and scientific foreign words and their etymology.

For notation

Many of the foreign words were mediated via Latin, therefore, the case often comes from the Latin transcriptions of Greek words. This is especially true for extensions ( gr - ον > Latin -um ), diphthongs ( gr αι > Latin ae > German ä ) and the Greek letter kappa ( κ gr > Latin c > dt k or z ).
