Lüneburg (district)

The district of Lüneburg is a district in the north- east of Lower Saxony. It is bordered to the west by the district of Harburg, on the north by the Schleswig-Holstein Duchy of Lauenburg, and the north and east by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern district of Ludwigsburg pleasure Parchim and on the south by the counties Lüchow- Dannenberg, Uelzen and Heidekreis. Geography

The district of Lüneburg is located south of Hamburg, between the river Elbe and Lüneburg Heath. It is drained by the Elbe - it separates the Amt Neuhaus and parts Bleckedes from the rest of the district.

History

Office and District

The Office Lüneburg was born 1862. At this time the Office Luna moved his official residence from Lüne monastery in the former Lüneburg Knight Academy. Hereby also the official name was changed. Coat of arms

The coat of arms was the district of Lüneburg in 1927 awarded by the Prussian State Ministry and is one of the earliest German county coat of arms.
