Malawi national football team
The Malawian national football team is under the Football Association of Malawi and represents the South African state Malawi in football. Since the 60s, the association carries out internationals. 1966 Before there was the national team of Nyasaland.
The greatest success the team in the 1980s. Up to the participation in the African Nations Cup 2010, Malawi was only in 1984 qualify for this competition. 1987 won the Malawian national team the bronze medal at the All- Africa Games in Kenya. For a world championship, the small country has never qualified.
Most national players are either in Malawi or automatically in the South African league. Of the few European legionnaires is Daniel Chitsulo, Professional Rot -Weiss Essen, the most successful. The German Burkhard Ziese was 2005-2006 national team coach.

In qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil, Malawi met Nigeria, Kenya and Namibia. By a 0-2 defeat on the final day against direct rivals Nigeria to win the group Malawi failed to qualify.
