Mosciano Sant'Angelo

Mosciano Sant'Angelo is a municipality with 9298 inhabitants and is located near Bell Ante and Giulianova in the Italian province of Teramo.

Geography

The municipality covers about 48.25 km ².

Among the districts ( fractions) include Colle Cacio, Colle Cerreto, Colle Imperatore, Collepietro Convento, Costa del Monte, Fornaci, Montone, Mosciano Sant'Angelo Stazione, notary Francesco Stazione Santa Filomena and Selva Alta.

Borders the following municipalities: Bell Ante, Castell Alto, Giulianova, notary Francesco, Roseto degli Abruzzi, Sant'Omero and Tortoreto.

The municipality is situated approximately 25 km from the capital of the province, the city of Teramo away.

History

The name of the village comes from the Latin Musius. In 897 it was first mentioned in a document of the municipality. In the Middle Ages, a monastery, an abbey and several churches were built in the area. There are in the church the remains of ancient watchtowers.

Station

Mosciano Sant'Angelo has a small central station. The Trains connecting Teramo to Giulianova go through the station. From Mosciano Sant'Angelo the train still at the terminus to Giulianova. The whole route is 26 km long.
