North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire [ ˌ nɔ ː ː θjɔ kʃə ] is a county in the Yorkshire and the Humber region of England. It is in the districts of Craven ( District ), Hambleton, Harrogate, Richmondshire, Ryedale, Scarborough and Selby divided.

In North Yorkshire, two of the eleven National Parks of England and Wales, namely the North York Moors National Park and the largest part of the Yorkshire Dales.

The county was created in 1974 and covers the greater part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, the northern half of the West Riding of Yorkshire and the northern and eastern edges of the East Riding of Yorkshire. The city of York was founded in 1996 an independent unitary authority of North Yorkshire; since then include Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton -on-Tees south of the River Tees for ceremonial purposes to North Yorkshire. Previously they were from 1974 to 1996 parts of the county of Cleveland, before they were part of the North Riding.

North Yorkshire borders East Riding of Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria and County Durham.
