Nützen

Availing is a municipality in the district of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein. Kampen and Springhirsch lie in the municipality.

Geography and transport

Take advantage lies about 7 km south of Bad Bramstedt between the federal highway 4 from Hamburg to Neumünster and the Federal Highway 7, also leading from Hamburg to Neumünster.

Kampen was originally a farming village, Spring Hirsch is located directly on the main road 4

History

In Springhirsch was between August 1944 and April 1945, the central warehouse in cold churches. The prisoners should reinforce the start and runways of the airbase cold churches. This 500-700 prisoners were murdered.

Due to the planned in the 1950s, construction of a major airport cold churches, however, was never executed, the population of the community went back temporarily and several buildings were demolished.

In Springhirsch today is the memorial of the outboard bearing cold churches, a subcamp of the Neuengamme concentration camp near Hamburg.
