Odd-Bjørn Hjelmeset

Odd - Bjørn Hjelmeset (December 6, 1971 in Sandane, Norway ) is a retired Norwegian cross-country skier. He was regarded as a specialist in the classic running style.

Hjelmeset won bronze at the 1999 World Cup over 10 km classic at the 2001 World Championships bronze over 15 km classic and gold in the relay as well as at the 2005 World Cup gold in the relay.

By the end of the 2006/07 season he scored eight World Cup victories, added ten more podiums. In the 1999/2000 season was Hjelmeset third in the overall World Cup standings. At the 2007 World Championships in Sapporo, he won jointly with Eldar Rønning, Lars Berger and Petter Northug the gold medal in the 4x10 km relay and became world champion over 50 km classic.

2007 Hjelmeset was awarded the Holmenkollen medal. He is also a successful athlete: In the Norwegian championships in 1996 and 1999, he came third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

At the Olympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver Hjelmeset won jointly with Northug, Martin Johnsrud Sundby Berger and the silver medal in the relay race 4 x 10 km.
