Rüti bei Riggisberg
Ruti bei Riggisberg is a village in the municipality in the district of Riggisberg Seftigen of the canton of Bern in Switzerland. Until December 31, 2008 Ruti was an independent municipality in Riggisberg.
The village Ruti bei Riggisberg located at 823 m above sea level. M., 3 km south of the main town community Riggisberg (air line). It is in a Talfurche the Biberzen, between the wooded heights of the Gibelegg in the north and in the south of Gurnigel. The population of the village comprises about 350 persons ( 2008).
Geography
The area of the former municipality ( 22.17 km ²) to the west comprises a portion of the pre-Alpine hills of Aaresenke between Bern and Thun. From east to west, the area is crossed by the 300 m wide, flat Talfurche the Biberzen or the Rütikanals; drainage occurs to the west and the black water. North of this valley, the floor of the densely forested Gibelegg ( 1,133 m above sea level. M. ) extends into the catchment area of Grüenibachs and in the east on the Würzenegg ( 1,021 m above sea level. M. ), which the watershed to the middle Guerbetal forms.
To the south, the area reaches the slope of Gurnigelwaldes, which is divided by the valleys of Biberzen, Dürr trench and gas trenches, on the pre-alpine heights of Gurnigelberges, which is composed of flysch. The western boundary case runs along the torrent of Seligrabens. History
The first written mention of the village was already in 1345 under the present name Ruti; 1429 the name Rüttin is preserved. The place name is derived from the Old High German word Riod ( clearing). Even in medieval times was under Ruti the Lords of Riggisberg. It shared since Riggisbergs history. From 1831 to December 31, 2008 Ruti was an independent municipality ( BFS-Nr. 0882 ), 2009, it merged with Riggisberg.
Economy
Ruti bei Riggisberg was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the dairy and livestock, and forestry have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available. In Ruti bei Riggisberg today a large sawmill, among builders, several Joinery and carpentry are represented. Some of the working population commuters who work mainly in the larger towns in the area or around Thun.
Traffic

Population
Included at the end of 2007 Ruti Riggisberg 411 inhabitants on. Of the residents 98.9 % are German, 0.7 % French-speaking and 0.4 % speak Portuguese (as of 2000). The population of Ruti bei Riggisberg amounted in 1850 to 520 residents in 1900 to 498 inhabitants. During the 20th century the population commuted to 1970 in the area of 490-570 people. This was followed by strong emigration declined to 1980 on 429 inhabitants. Since then, low population fluctuations were only recorded.
Tourism
The region around Ruti bei Riggisberg, especially Gurnigelbad, is a popular recreational and hiking area of Berne and Thun. The heights of the Gurnigelberges (street Ruti bei Riggisberg - Schwefelbergbad ) form the starting point for hikes in Gantrisch. In winter, the region is suitable for skiers and cross-country skiing.
