La Neuveville-devant-LÃ©panges

La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges is a commune with 471 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Vosges in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, founded the canton of Bruyeres and to the 2002 Local Government Association Vallée de la Vologne.

Geography

The municipality of La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges located in the Vosges Mountains at an altitude of 430 m above sea level, 25 kilometers north- west of Gerardmer and 18 kilometers east of Epinal.

The area of 8.78 km ² municipal area extends from the Mosel Creek Vologne, which forms the northwestern boundary of the municipality, except for the almost 650 m reach heights of the massif l' Ancerf in the south. The section of the Volognetales is in the municipality of La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges up to 1000 m wide and has room for a loose structure of fields, pastures and settlements. About half of the municipal area is wooded, especially in the south and east, where the edge of a forest roughly follows the 500 -meter contour line.

The municipality consists of the three sub- varieties La Neuveville (430 m ) in the north on a terrace above the Vologne, Le Boulay (430 m ) in the west between Volognetal and the massif l' Ancerf and Saint -Jean -du -Marché ( 480 m) located in a narrow valley in the southeast, which leads over a 490 m high mountain pass to the Valley of Barba.

Neighboring communities of La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges are Lépanges -sur- Vologne in the north and northeast, Laveline -du- Houx in the southeast, Faucompierre in the south, the west and Docelles Deycimont in the northwest.

History

In 1309, La Neuveville first appears as Lai Nueveville, reports directly to the Dukes of Lorraine.

On October 30, 1907, the community was renamed by decree of La Neuveville to La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges in order to better distinguish them from the same two communities in the department of Vosges can.

On January 1, 1973, the previously independent municipalities Le Boulay and Saint -Jean -du -Marché were incorporated into the municipality of La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges.

In the second half of the 19th century, the area around La Neuveville was nationally known for starch production. In 1880 there were 153 in La Neuveville starch producers. As a starting point served potatoes, energy supplied water mills on the Vologne. The last operation of this type in 1968 completed for reasons of profitability. ,

Economy and infrastructure

In the municipality there are still five farms prime- resident. In addition, dominates the small businesses (bakery, construction companies, taxi operation). Many residents of the community are now commuters in the nearby industrial areas of Vologne and Mosel.

La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges is an elementary school site in the district of Le Boulay, there is a kindergarten.

La Neuveville -devant- Lépanges is off the national traffic flows. The neighboring municipalities Docelles and Faucompierre are connected to the road department 11/417 of Remiremont about Gerardmer in Colmar. The nearest railway station is three kilometers away Lépanges community -sur- Vologne on the run by the TER Lorraine railway line Arches Saint- Dié.
