Saint-Amé

Saint- Amé is a commune with 2168 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the department of Vosges of Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Epinal, the canton Remiremont and is a member of the local association was founded in 1996 Vallée de la Cleurie.

Geography

The municipality of Saint- Amé is located in the south-western Vosges, about six kilometers east of the city Remiremont.

The municipality covers next sections of the valleys of Moselotte and Cleurie a portion of up to 773 meters above sea level reaching the ridge west of the Cleurietales. The eastern boundary of the municipality is the Cleurie which opens on the municipal boundary to Le Syndicat in the Moselotte, in turn, the southern border of Saint- Amé sets. 482 acres, more than half of the 8.07 km ² large municipality area is forested. There are shares of lying above about 400 meters large contiguous forest Forêt de Fossard. In the valleys of the Moselotte there before agriculture (cereals and fodder crops).

Together with the municipalities of Le Syndicat and Vagney is Saint- Amé along the northern bank of Moselotte an elongated, closed settlement image.

Neighboring municipalities of Saint- Amé are Cleurie in the north, Le Syndicat in the east, Dommartin- lès- Remiremont in the southwest and Saint- Étienne- lès- Remiremont in the West.

History

The community was created by decree on 12 November 1789, the hamlets and farms Meyvillers, Autrive and La Nolle of the Ban de moulin ( mill spell ). This ban was on the one hand the rule of the provosts of the chapter Remiremont, on the other hand the abbesses of Remiremont. In 1594 the territory of the ban was part of the Bailliage the Vosges and was under the provost of Arches, from 1751 belonged to Saint- Amé Bailiwick Remiremont. During the time of the French Revolution, the anti-religious national convention called to the church in La Nolle -sur -les- Sables.

To the parish the population was in the parish of present-day hamlet of Celle. The old parish church in Celles was demolished in 1727, a new church was built on the territory of the neighboring village of Le Syndicat.

The town hall with boys 'school ( école - Mairie ) dates from 1848, a girls' school followed in 1869, a first kindergarten in 1884.

The livelihoods have long been the agriculture, especially livestock and numerous granite quarries on the lower Cleurie and the Moselotte.

Partnership

With the Italian community in the Province of Como Schignano connects Saint- Amé since 1988 a city partnership that emerged from many contacts of immigrants to their northern Italian home community.

Economy and infrastructure

Saint- Amé is today a town with many craft and service companies. Outstanding are the fabricators of granite, which is mined in nearby quarries. The largest commercial area is located in the west of the municipality (zone d' aménagement concerts Sous le Bois ). Agriculture today plays only a minor role; in the municipal area is still a farm in the full-time resident.

Education

The municipality of Saint- Amé is home to two elementary schools (Les Bruyeres and Les Tileuls ) and a kindergarten.

Traffic

Saint- Amé is located on the department road 417 that leads from Remiremont after Gerardmer and on over the Vosges ridge to Colmar in Alsace. Just east of Saint- Amé branches off the road department from 43 after Saulxures -sur -Moselotte and La Bresse and the Col d' Oderen. South of the Moselotte connects the D 23 Saint- Amé with Vagney. At the 1992 disused railway line from Remiremont after Cornimont today still remembers the street name Rue de la Gare.
