2000 Ericsson Open

The Ericsson Open 2000 was the 16th edition of the Miami Masters and took place from March 20 to April 6, 2000 at Hard Court instead.

The men's tournament was part of the Tennis Masters Series and endowed with a total of $ 3,200,000, while the women's tournament was classified by $ 2,525,000 as a Tier I tournament because of the prize money. Both tournaments started with 96 participants in the main field.

Last year's winner for the men was Richard Krajicek, 1999 Venus Williams wore to the list of winners in the women's one. Both occurred this year, not to defend the title. Instead, Pete Sampras and Martina Hingis won the singles competitions. For Sampras, it was already after 1993 and 1994, the third title in this tournament, Hingis could ever win in 1997.

Successful men's doubles was the pairing Todd Woodbridge / Mark Woodforde, which for the 4th time already won the tournament. Julie Halard - Decugis and Ai Sugiyama won the women's doubles competition.
