Claudia Nystad

Claudia Nystad, born Kuenzel ( born 1 February 1978 in Zschopau, GDR ) is a German cross country skier and double Olympic champion who competed for the WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal. She is sporting a soldier in the army. With five medals at Olympics and World Championships Nystad is next Evi Sachenbacher floor the most successful German cross-country skier of the present.

Life

In the Saxon Erzgebirge grew up, Nystad was already in kindergarten for the first time on cross-country skis. At the age of 12, she moved to the Children's and Youth Sports School Oberwiesenthal, where in 1996 the Abitur. Career

Junior time and initial success (1997-2001)

Your first international assignment had Nystad in December 1997, the Continental Cup competition in the French Argentière. Most successful years (2002-2005)

The Olympia 2001/02 season began with Nystad rather declining results. In distance competitions, they are usually placed far away from the World Cup points. And also in sprint competitions they could not repeat the good results of the past season. Second Olympic victory after ups and downs ( 2006-2010 )

Comeback ( since 2013)
