Herborn, Rhineland-Palatinate
Herborn is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Herrnstein.
Geography
Herborn is located on King forest in the Hunsrück. Nearly half of the district area is forested. Three kilometers to the south is Idar- Oberstein on the Nahe.
History
The place was first mentioned in documents as Horbure in 1319. He originally belonged to the dominion of the Wildgrafen later than fief Kurtrierisches the Lords of Warsberg.

The local council in Herborn consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Culture and sights
North West on Wildenburger head are the remains of the castle Wildenburg with a 22 -meter high observation tower.
Traffic
By Herborn leads the bus number 351 of the Omnibus Transportation Rhein-Nahe. Here are up to ten times daily bus services to the station Idar -Oberstein, as well as in the Hunsrück, provided in part to the international airport Frankfurt -Hahn.
