Herborn, Rhineland-Palatinate

Herborn is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Herrnstein.

Geography

Herborn is located on King forest in the Hunsrück. Nearly half of the district area is forested. Three kilometers to the south is Idar- Oberstein on the Nahe.

History

The place was first mentioned in documents as Horbure in 1319. He originally belonged to the dominion of the Wildgrafen later than fief Kurtrierisches the Lords of Warsberg.
