Rimsberg

Rimsberg is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Birkenfeld.

Geography

Rimsberg lies to the east of the county town of Birkenfeld. In the north and in the southeast Schmißberg is Nohen.

To Rimsberg also includes the settlement bird Büsch and the living space Lindenhof.

History

The place was first mentioned in records in 1269 as Rummersberg.

Rimsberg belonged to the late 18th century to the Rear County of Sponheim and was the capital of a designated as a nursing administrative and judicial district, which was subordinate to the chief official Birkenfeld. To care Rimsberg included the villages Nohen and Reichenbach. In 1607 six families were counted in Rimsberg 1699 there were only four in number to 1772 rose to 15.
