Mackenrodt

Mackenrodt is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Herrnstein.

Geography

The village lies west of the Near in the Hunsrück. 64.6 percent of the district area is forested. To the southeast, Idar- Oberstein is located.

History

Mackenrodt was first documented in the 14th century. It was part of the Rear County of Sponheim. After the division of the two counties Sponheim (1776 ), the area to the Margrave of Baden. After the Congress of Vienna (1815 ) the region and thus came Mackenrodt 1919 Oldenburg principality of Birkenfeld.
