Gollenberg, Rhineland-Palatinate

Goll mountain is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Birkenfeld.

Geography

The village lies on the edge of the Black Forest High Forest in the Hunsrück. In the south there are Birkenfeld and Ellenberg, to the west and north is Rinzenberg Oberhambach.

History

Goll mountain was first documented in 1415 as " Gulderberg ". In the 1920s, was mined in the vicinity of the place after pyrite, the reduction was, however, soon discontinued. From 1934 to 1952 Goll mountain and the neighboring Ellenberg were united in the community Goll mountain Ellenberg.
