Veitsrodt

Veitsrodt is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Herrnstein. Veitrsrodt is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography

Veitsrodt situated within the conservation area Hochwald Idarwald. The municipality also includes the residential places Lindenhof, Strudthof and brick cottage.

History

The place was first mentioned at the beginning of the 13th century as Rodt documented. Since 1319 he belonged to the Earl Wild.

In Veitsrodt for more than 500 years will find markets, especially cattle markets, instead of what was held in the local coat of arms ( bull's head and the connecting hands, as the contract ). For 175 years, the market bears the name Veitsrodter premium market. Every second weekend in July, he will be held in the market area at Veitsrodt. In the place lived about 1795 to 1798, the family of the robber Schinderhannes. The father Johann Buckler was employed as a field contactor and day laborers.
