Reichenbach, Birkenfeld

Reichenbach is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the community of Baumholder.

Geography

The town lies on the same Reichenbach west of the 563 meter high mountain field. 37.5 percent of the district area is forested.

To the east are the city and the Baumholder military training area, in the south Ruschberg, to the west and north is Kronweiler Nohen and woman mountain.

History

Reichenbach belonged to the late 18th century to the Rear County of Sponheim and the upper office Birkenfeld belonging care Rimsberg was assigned. In 1607 32 families were counted in Reichenbach, in 1699 there were only 14 in number to 1772 rose to 66. In 1790 the town had 233 inhabitants, the district of Reichenbach comprised 1084 acres.

The municipality of Reichenbach in 1817 the seat of a mayor, which included the communities Aulenbach, Ausweiler, Mrs. Berg, Hammerstein and Ruschberg (see also List of municipalities in the Principality of Lichtenberg). This county was dissolved in 1823 and integrated into the mayoralty Baumholder. After being sold to Prussia and the resolution of the Principality of Lichtenberg Reichenbach came to the newly erected county of St. Wendel in the Rhine Province. Since 1937 Reichenbach belongs to the district of Birkenfeld, and since 1946 has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate.
