Wickenrodt
Wickenrodt is a municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Herrnstein.
Geography
Wickenrodt lies in the Hunsrück on a plateau above the Hahnenbachtal between Idar -Oberstein and Rhaunen. The local situation is a hillside in an opening to the east trough.
History
The place was first mentioned in 961 as " Uuickenrodero " in Nahegau.

Protestant parish church
Nestled in an arrangement with the rectory, parish barn and parsonage garden is the simple hall church with choir tower at the southeast edge of town. Its origins can be dated back to the 13th century. The Romanesque choir tower carries a late-Gothic spire and contains two bells, the older dated around 1340, the younger Bell was acquired in 1922 from Achtelsbach and is dated 1466. The Romanesque nave was substantially changed in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Parish council
The local council in Wickenrodt consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009, by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Regular events
A folk and children's festival from Verschönerungsverein Wickenrodt (last weekend in July ) and a regional horse show will be held ( 1st weekend in September ) from the local riding club RV Wickenrodt annually.
Every 2 years ( even years ) will be held on the 1st Saturday in December Nikolausmarkt around the community center instead.
Economy and infrastructure
The town is crossed by the county road K 23. In the southeast, the highway runs 41 In Kirn is a station on the railway line Bingen- Saarbrücken.
