Innsbruck-Land District

The district Innsbruck-Land is a political district in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It surrounds the district Innsbruck-Stadt, bordered to the west by the Imst district, on the east by the district of Schwaz, in the north of Bavaria ( Garmisch -Partenkirchen ) and to the south by South Tyrol. The area of the district, including the city of Innsbruck is called the region also means Tyrolean country or Innsbruck country.

Geography

The district is located in a part of the Inn valley (Upper Inn Valley and the Lower Inn Valley ) and in North Tyrol part of the Wipptal and its side valleys (Stubai Valley, Sellraintal, Gschnitztal, Watten ). Furthermore, the area of the Seefeld Plateau belongs to the district.

The southern border with the Brenner Pass is formed by the main Alpine ridge. The district comprises of the valleys mainly alpine area ( Stubai Alps in the south-west, Tux Alps to the southeast, weather and Karwendel mountain ranges in the north).

The district Innsbruck-Land is named after the district of Lienz in Tyrol 's second largest and the fifth largest in Austria.

Economy and infrastructure

The district is a major tourist area ( Stubaital, Seefeld area, outskirts of Innsbruck). In the secondary sector, alongside the dominant operating Swarovski, the construction industry is represented by a high employment share. Important locations for industry and commerce are: Wattens, Fie, Absam, Hall, Kematen and Telfs.

The largest production facilities are located in the areas of production and processing of glass, food industry, optics and construction.

Administrative divisions

The district Innsbruck-Land is divided into 65 municipalities, including the City and seven market towns. He is the richest community district in Austria.
