Kötterichen

Kötterichen is a municipality in the volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kelberg.

Geographical location

Kötterichen is located in the Natural Park of Volcanic Eifel as well as in the conservation area Kelberg. Northwest of the town rises the Gallows ( 554.5 m) and south of Jacob Berg ( 549 m). The city of elms is located about 3 km south-west.

History

Gorgeous country belonged Kötterichen, formerly called Köttrichen or Kottrichen until the late 18th century to the Electorate of Cologne and was under the administration of the school Theissen Office Uersfeld in the Official Nürburg. After the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794 ) and the introduction of new administrative structures according to the French model (1798 ) was Kötterichen from the Mairie elm managed in the same canton. Following the decisions of the Congress of Vienna in 1816, the town of the newly formed Mayor's Kelberg (from 1927 " Official Kelberg " ) has been assigned in the Prussian district Adenau.
