The list of cities in Canada provides an overview of the development of the population of the larger cities and towns of the State of Canada in North America since 1991. With a population density of 3.4 inhabitants per km ² Canada is among the ten least densely populated countries in the world. Of its 33.5 million inhabitants, 82 % more concentrated in urban settlements. In the three largest cities (Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver ) are home to about 35% of the total population.

The following table lists the urban settlements over 50,000 inhabitants, and the results of censuses ( VZ ) of 4 June 1991, May 14, 1996 15 May 2001 16 May 2006 and 10 May 2011. Listed is also the parent administrative unit ( province and territory ), to which the city belongs. The inhabitants numbers refer to the respective urban settlement - the geographical urban area ( urban area or population center) - not to the city or town in the political sense.
